Get To Know: Lily C-D

Get To Know: Lily C-D

Who are you?

hey troops! i’m lily c deeming, better known as lily c-d, and i’m a dj and producer originally from a little town just outside birmingham. these days, though, you’ll find me in manchester, soaking up the city’s insane energy and music scene.

---

What started your journey in music?

honestly, my mum was the first person to get me into music. she was a raver back in the ‘90s and early ‘00s, so our house was always filled with old-school trance, techno, dnb, and dubstep blasting at all hours. i was hooked from the start.

once i was old enough, i packed my bags for a season in ibiza, and that, along with those legendary fuse 93 sundays, made me realise i didn’t just want to dance to this music, i wanted to play it!

the deeper i dug into the scene, the more i fell for that early ‘00s tech house sound—the wiggle records, peace division, early fuse kind of vibe. i knew this is what i wanted to make, and this is what i wanted to play.

3 tracks that never leave your usb?

pirate copy - deep in my garage

the streets - weak become heroes

flashmob - need in me, a serious classic that i could never get rid of

---

Biggest goal as a producer/dj right now?

right now, i’m laser-focused on two things, gigs and production.

i’ve been locked in the studio this year, working on my debut single, which is set to drop this summer. super excited for that one.

on the gig side, manchester is on fire at the moment. the nightlife is unreal and i’m determined to play at as many iconic spots as possible, such as hidden, dba, progress centre and the loft. all these places really shape the scene and make the manchester nightclub scene feel so unique.

---

Your biggest moment so far?

a moment i’ll never forget is getting the call up to play at studio 338 when i was a young, fresh dj a few years ago! it was a sold out party so i was absolutely buzzing but incredibly nervous. saying that, i do enjoy playing at raw down in birmingham - they have been instrumental in giving me the platform to play my sound, my way.

Name 5 up and coming artists everyone should check out?

alexandria - this girl is going to be huge. she’s signed for you&me and has curated this european fuse of house, garage, minimal spacey sounds in her production.

ayme - another female powerhouse. she’s recently signed for eastenderz and is one to watch - her sets are bouncy, high energy and i love it!

adr - from syntho production lessons to high energy sets, he’s released on some huge labels like locus, beeyou and belief. great sound and one to watch as he gets bigger.

sonata collective - with releases on glasgow underground and featuring on bbc introducing, this pair are making bouncy tech house. their tracks always seem to go off in my sets - one of their tracks was actually my top played last year!

levi swarn - levi has played for the top parties in birmingham and his production has had some huge support from big hitters such as marco carola, josh baker & east end dubs. huge moves.

Piece of advice for new producers/djs?

find your sound. stick to your identity. showcase your style. everything else will fall into place. and more than anything, be real and be kind! this industry needs more good energy!

---

Your top 5 djs?

lala

joseph capriati

apollonia

coast2coast

enzo siragusa

---

Biggest challenge in your career so far?

balancing my time. between producing, prepping sets, digging for new music, gigging, and keeping up with content, it’s a lot.

but when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work, it’s class.

Whats coming up/next for you?

2025 has been such an exciting year already. next week i’m warming up for skream @ raw - a legend in the game - i’ve been a skream fan since his early dubstep days, so this is going to be an unbelievable day!

on april 5th i’m playing at one of my bucket list venues in manchester, the loft. the soundsystem and energy in there is unmatched. it’s for kolter’s curated night so it’ll be good to see everyone and catch up with marsolo & kolter at the afters.

i’m currently finalising my debut single and got some other tracks in the works, so hopefully will be releasing music on some of my dream labels - but that's all i’m going to say on that for now!

the long term goal is to have my own event that aligns with my brand and my sound - allowing an all inclusive, comfortable space for everyone to dance, be themselves and simply enjoy the music.

---

Last record you bought?

peace division - body & soul, and our house music lp - (heart eyes. the peace division sound still gives my whole body goosebumps to this day).

---

Labels & parties you resonate with?

there’s a few big labels i resonate with - the likes of: fuse, one records, constant sound & trmnl

the tracks they come out with are the ones i would choose to listen to and appreciate the authenticity and quality of the production. parties wise - ivy collective in mcr (this is going to be huge)!

---

Your dream collab?

easy - lala! she plays a mix of hardgroove and house, a genre i also love. her entire identity is amazing, and a b2b with her would be high energy with some sexy rollers included. it would be ridiculous, in the best way possible.

---

Who’s one producer you’d love to watch in the studio for a day?

burnski - that man is a wizard!

---

What club or promoter is pushing the scene forward in your opinion?

i love what you&me are doing for the scene. they’ve been so influential in keeping the minimal sound alive. they’re also releasing good music, pumping amazing content across their socials and hosting fun-filled parties.

similarly, another manchester based brand, libero - mike morrisey and the team have nailed the tribal tech house sound. you're guaranteed to dance if you go to one of their events and they are always filled with a good, positive atmosphere to let your hair down.

finally, i love that there's more and more no phone parties, especially those at 93 feet east in london. we don’t want to lose the space to dance because people are worried about social media. stop worrying about how you look or who to impress and just dance. it's more uncool to be cool nowadays!
