moodtapes is a new studio mix series for youtube from niteplan.

moodtapes 001 sits between deep house and UK garage, but the series isn’t tied to any single sound. it’s a space for niteplan to explore his full music collection freely - without compromise.

"i wanted to create a space where i can really showcase what makes me, me - and fully dive in and explore all ends of my music collection - whether its house, jungle, uk garage, grime, electro, techno. i want to be able to play what i want, when i feel it makes sense."

too often, artists are boxed in by their discography rather than respected as selectors.

“it’s rare that I’m on a line-up where I feel like I can genuinely go wherever I want with my selections, so for now, this is the perfect place for me to do it. through my aliases i’ve always moved between sounds - not genres as boxes, but as tools. artists should be trusted as selectors, not defined by their discography. if someone known for house is booked for a metalheadz event to play a jungle set, it’s intentional and they should be able to do both - that freedom is what I love.”
