who are you?
i’m meeshy, a dj and producer based in hackney, east london. i’ve got a mixed background — jamaican, moroccan and british.
what started your journey in music?
music’s always been in me. i started playing violin at age 8, worked my way up to grade 8, sang in a choir, did music gcse, then went on to study music tech at college and music management at uni. it’s been a full-circle moment bringing all of that together in what i do now.

whats your day to day grind outside of the studio?
right now i’m a one-woman show — content creation, strategy, bookings, everything. lately i’ve been leaning more into the production side too. it’s a completely different way of life considering this time last year i was sat at a desk working as an executive assistant!
your favourite moment so far?
that’s a hard one — i’ve had a year full of pinch-me moments. it’s between doing my first b2b at glastonbury and playing at unvrs. both were moments i’ll never forget.

advice you wish you had sooner?
stop caring what people think. your creative space belongs to you — that’s your time. no one can tell you how to create, so just do your thing unapologetically.

nicole moudaber
franky rizardo
hitty
syreeta
skepta
biggest challenge in your career so far?
definitely getting past stage fright and pre-set nerves. i still get them every time, but i’m learning to channel that energy into excitement instead of fear.

what’s coming up/next for you?
my own event brand única — the second one’s next week, and there’s something big happening in london on 20th december. all will be revealed soon on my socials… stay tuned.
