Get To Know: Jessi Lowkey
who are you?
i am jessi lowkey, i was born and raised in london but moved to sydney a few years ago for the sunshine.
what started your journey in music?
my dad has always been my inspiration for music, even now he is more up to date with tracks than me. as a child we always had dnb playing in house on a saturday morning whilst he was hoovering and the evenings could have been anything from otis redding, biggie smalls or ziggy marley.

labels/parties you resonate with?
i feel like i have 2 personalities so boiler room ovbs because dirty club rat vibes, but also glitterbox, here for the glitz, glam and disco soul vibes, everyone’s so happy and it’s about the atmosphere which i love.
a track you wish you produced?
sosa – your love, the blend of house and the garage bassline inspired me to make my first track and a week after release i sat under your love in the beatport ukg top 100 charts which was wild!!
bucket list club / festival?
boomtown, secret garden, ministry of sound, warehouse project, hi — i am a club and nightlife gal so i'm here for it all.
who/what inspired you to produce/dj, and why?
i would say growing up and watching sets by dj ez (first time at sw4) and sam divine (the set where they took over dickens world), they were the sets that i noticed their own edits and i used to come home the next morning and tell my parents every transition they made. they made me fall in love with house music and ukg.
your dream collab?
vocalist it would be jazzy, i played on her line up with her in sydney and her voice but also her vibe is unmatched. from a producer perspective bvnquet, i love what he's doing for the scene and how he's part of this new ukg revolution.
most memorable show?
it would have to be a boat party i played for redwood events in sydney. it’s just a boat of locals, i had been djing for 2 years at this point and i had this realisation that i could actually make something out of this, the energy, the vibe, i didn't even plan my set and i looked out at the harbour bridge, it was just unreal.
if you could remix any track, what would it be?
i have been trying to remix angie stone, wish i didn't miss you for the past 6 months haha so any help would be appreciated.
how do you balance music and life?
i don’t. i am constantly being told to slow down and take a break but to be honest i love my life i don’t want to.
if you weren't making music, what would you be doing?
i am currently starting my own marketing agency where i work with clubs and events as well as other small businesses in sydney to boost their marketing — it’s called baked creative.
who’s one producer you’d love to watch in the studio for a day?
eats everything, i have used some of his packs before and i love them. his influence with jackin/chicago house is something i want to start implementing into my tracks.
